KZEW was the leading radio station of the album rock set in the '70s and '80s in North Texas. They played records that nobody else would touch and sponsored concerts by album rock artists that would, over time, become the leading figures in music of the late '70s.

From the very beginning, they cut their own spots for rock concerts in Dallas-Ft. Worth and even the occasional record album. Some twenty years ago, this vast archive of commercials were gathered up from a dumpster during a station housecleaning. Some were only a year old at the time, some were nearly seven years old. No big deal- right? Not in 1980.

But come forward twenty years and the chance that these long-lost spots would surface on a collection of CDs is even more unlikely. Taken directly from my stereo master tapes, these are the chronicle of every KZEW advertised concert that came through the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. These hand-made CDs are a dream come true for rock concert fans, hearing how radio would promote the arts with not-so-slick commercials made by the station themselves.
